I love the knife - very sharp and good grip. The sheat however (for me) does not suit the knife. Black votton for the stitching would have done it for me.
This is an insanely good value for money knife.
While it’s OK Chinese stainless steel (in the knife steel snob circles), it comes out of the box “shaving sharp” and a bit of stropping will let you shave like Crocodile Dundee.
It’s a bit thick if you’re really into cooking and are used to very thin chefs’ knives, but this is the best “out-door/camping” chefs knife that I have ever come across.
It’s shape is that of a normal chef’s knife so that you can chop and cut things without your fingers getting in the way. As what happens with normal camping/bushcraft knives.
I suspect that it would make a fantastic bushcraft knife. With the full tang and respectable steel, it could easily baton through a chunk of wood, or with its inherent sharpness shave off some delicate tinder or kindling shavings, while still holding the ability to slaughter and butcher an entire animal.
I’d love to see this knife with micarta handles and a kydex sheath.., and maybe a churl on top. It would make for an unbeatable bushcraft, chef’s knife.
I’ll be applying those mods to my knife.
The sheath is ok, but bordering on rubbish. You’ll cut off the strap and clip with a little bit of carelessness when holstering the knife.
If you do some cooking outdoors or while camping, just get this knife. It’s extremely good value for money, and there is nothing quite like it out there, in terms of functionality.
In terms of self-defence, it’s a lot more scary than many combat knives and could do some real damage, if called to do so.
